Regular eye exams for children are extremely important. It is a form of preventive care. Protecting your child's eyewear is also very important.

There are a few ways to protect your childs eyewear. 1- Flexon frames can bend and put up with a lot of damage. 2- Polycarbonate lenses are very important for eye safty. They are made out of the same materials as saftey glasses. 3- Make sure your eyecare provider has a good warranty if your child breaks their glasses. Many independents have great warranties.

Thank you for your perspective. Before he was 3 years old my son required eye surgery, glasses and specialized exams to correct strabsimus (cross-eyes). Without insurance, we would have had to pay over $10,000. Just his eyeglasses alone cost hundreds of dollars. Because I know how much of a difference it has made in our lives. I am hosting a Tweet-a-thon July 31st to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.
