So all I wanted to do was add one channel and remove one package from my Comcast service.

Wrong – it is a hideously painful process that involves a never ending online chat person. This is actually the second time I’ve tried to do this; the first time I gave up because I got too frustrated.

As you can see in the transcript, I stuck it out to the end this time, but the mission is still only 50% complete.

I hate Comcast!

DAVID: Doing good thanks. But since Comcast is supposed to be an internet company, why can’t I just add and subtract items from my account without having to go through this nonsense?
Nitesh: I understand your point David, However this is Comcast policy and we have to follow that.
DAVID: Yep, not your fault. It’s what happens when having to deal with a monopoly
Nitesh: David, I will try my best to complete your order as quick as possible.
Nitesh: In order to get you the best customer service experience and to make sure we meet your all needs, I would be asking a few questions. Is it okay with you?
DAVID: sure

Nitesh: For security purposes, can you please verify these pieces of information: complete name, account number or last 4 digits of Social Security Number?

Nitesh: As I can see you want to add HBO to your current services. Am I correct?
DAVID: Yes. There is also a sports package on my account that I’d like to remove. I couldn’t see a way to do that on the Comcast site
Nitesh: For removing the sports package you need to call at 1-800-XFINITY as we are the selling department and we do not have authority to remove any package from customer’s account.
DAVID: Oh dear, that’s painful
Nitesh: David, I will only take 2-3 minutes. You just need to call at our toll free number and they would process your request straight away.
DAVID: Afraid not – I called the number and Comcast is closed. Terrible company
Nitesh: I understand you feel that way.
Nitesh: Let me start processing your order. Please stay connected.
Nitesh: I see that you currently have two of our services connected and have been a loyal customer for quite a while. As part of our appreciation for your loyalty, I would like to offer you our Triple Play package with Cable, High-Speed Internet and Comcast Digital Voice.
DAVID: Nope, we only use mobile phones so no use to us – thanks though

DAVID: Of course there is.

DAVID: Not a thing – thanks!

Here is the review anyway:

I’ve been an iPhone user on AT&T for ages, iPhone 2, 3 and 4. As much as I dislike AT&T’s customer service and pricing, everything does basically work

On recommendation from friends using iPhone 4 and Android on Sprint, I switched over when iPhone 5 was released.

Not a good move. We have 3 phones and none stay connected to the network for any length of time – we always see the “could not activate cellular data” error. The only way to connect is to switch into and out of airplane mode. On the rare times the phones do connect, the network (on 3G even though Sprint has a laugh and charges for “premium data”) is amazingly slow – like 14.4 dialup would be faster.

As my daughter says “going to Sprint is like changing from a smartphone to an ordinary phone”

Oh – the phone my wife uses has a defect and gives horrible call quality, need to get it to the store for replacement.

If it worked, iPhone 5 would be OK. The 4 and 4s had way better build quality though. There are a lot of posts on the Sprint forums and elsewhere about the poor iPhone 5 performance.

Hopefully there will be a solution that doesn’t involve buying an iPhone 6 or switching to another carrier!

Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave – I can’t believe this is the experience he wanted his customers to have to endure!

So how about it, Sprint? You going to fix it?

However, the more I thought about it, I realized that I had the perfect domain just sitting around, so Totally Incorrect is being reborn yet again.

As well as cool new content, the site is having a whole new look, thanks to the (in)Spyr Theme from the guys at SpyrMedia. I have no idea how long this transition is going to take, so please bear with me!

Nothing would be further from the truth, the whole thing has become so awful that I have no intention of watching a single second.

I don’t want to disrespect the fine athletes (well most of them anyway) that have worked hard to compete in London, but I thought I’d list my top 5 reasons why the London Olympics sucks…

1. NBC TV Coverage
   I could probably end the list with just this first item. If you live anywhere else in the World you might not understand how bad this is, but honestly, NBC Olympic coverage is simply not watchable.

   If you live in the UK, Australia, Canada or just about any country, cherish your TV coverage. If not for the other four reasons, I’d try and find a BBC feed for the games.

2. Stuart Pearce
   If you are not British, there is a good chance you don’t know who this guy is. For me, he took away the single interesting thing about the 2012 Games. For some obscure reason, Stuart Pearce was given the job of managing the Team GB (what a hideous name!) football team – that’s proper football, not American by the way.

   Just about anyone with even the slightest interested in football was looking forward to watching David Beckham play in International football for the last time. So what does this fool Pearce do? He decides to believe he is Sir Alf reincarnated and doesn’t pick Beckham. What an idiot! Pearce, this isn’t the World Cup, you moron!

   Hey, Pearce – this is a competition with no meaning, we only wanted to watch to see Beckham. Grrrrr!! (and I’m not a Beckham fan by any means!)

3. Beer and Burgers
   Unfortunately the Olympic ideal sold out to big corporations long ago. As a result of this, it will be impossible to buy British beer at the Games (you’ll have to make do with that virgin’s pee known as Budweiser if you go. Fancy a nice British burger? Forget about it! Because of the MacDonald exclusive you’ll have to make do with their garbage. Sorry!
4. Plastic Brits
   It seems the GB team is full of people with a rather nebulous claim to even being British. To be honest I really don’t care if your great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother’s former room mate once spotted the English coast on a page in an atlas, you are not bloody British!
5. The US Team Lame Outfits
   This one is so dumb you have to laugh.Turns out the cute little outfits that the US team member will be wearing for the opening and other events were made in China! With his Olympic connections and history of exporting American jobs to Asia, I see Mitt Romney at work here.

So there you have it – the 2012 Olympic Games – an example of selling out to big business interests at the expense of giving the fans what they want.

You’re welcome to it, I won’t be watching.

In other news, Totally Incorrect is back!!

You may have noticed, that it has been rather a long time since the last post here.

You may think, this is just down to laziness. To a large extent you’re probably correct! However, I have been busy on a lot of other projects and that is my feeble excuse.

Anyway, Totally Incorrect is back! Does this mean there will be lots of new exciting content? To be honest, that remains to be seen. It must be said though, that with the US election, this is rather an interesting year. There should be no shortage of things to write about.

I find this election to be very different to the previous one. Last time it was all about finding a candidate to really make a difference. This election however, seems to be more a case of choosing the lesser of 2 evils. If you come back to totally incorrect, I can assure you you’ll know exactly where I stand!

As well as politics, I still plan to write about some of the other things-social media, marketing, religion and books. In fact, pretty much anything that I’m interested in at the time.

I hope you will stick around and in return I’ll promise to post more frequently than every 2 years or so!

Live in Lowell! takes place on Thursday, December 10th and will be an evening of music, networking and fun in support of MA Coalition for the Homeless.

There will be live music all night with some of the coolest local musicians as well as raffles and auctions.

All in all, a great opportunity to meet with other social media enthusiasts, support a great cause at a time of year they need the help and have a good time as well.

Our venue, The Mambo Grill, is right in Downtown Lowell, Mass – where the American Industrial Revolution was born. Lowell is easy to get to from all the main highways and there is parking on the street or in the garage just around the corner.

As always at Mass Innovation Nights, there was a company that really caught my eye. This time it was mybrainshark.com – wacky name, but a great way to host presentation on-line. This is something I’ll be checking out for sure.
